DDCC Board of Directors Wanted

The Drumheller & District Chamber of Commerce will be holding its Annual General Meeting on Thursday, March 22 at the Badlands Community Facility. The evening will begin at 6:30pm with a wine and cheese networking reception followed by the meeting at 7:00pm.

In preparation for the AGM, the DDCC is seeking members interested in serving on the Board of Directors. In 2018, there will be 4 three-year terms open for election, in addition to 1 two-year term. Members are requested to review the information regarding Board of Director expectations and to submit the application for consideration. New Celebration of Excellence Partnership

The Drumheller and District Chamber of Commerce, Drumheller Rotary Club and Town of Drumheller are pleased to announce an exciting partnership. The three organizations will be joining forces on Friday, June 15, 2018 to jointly host the Celebration of Excellence at the Badlands Community Facility. The celebration will honor individuals and businesses for their achievements and contributions to the community. Together the group will present a total of twelve awards, including Citizen of the Year, Business of the Year and Youth Leader of Tomorrow. The semi-formal evening will feature cocktails and dinner with musical entertainment followed by the awards presentation emceed by Jason Blanke.

“This is a very exciting time in our valley. It is wonderful to see these three organizations pull together and celebrate excellence. The citizens and businesses are truly the ones that deserve the recognition from the community as a whole. Thank you to the Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce for your commitment to our valley and I look forward to a spectacular evening on June 15th,” stated Mayor Heather Colberg.

Changes to WLD Legacy Fund Guidelines & Application Process

The Drumheller and District Chamber of Commerce has made changes to its guidelines and application process for the World’s Largest Dinosaur (WLD) Legacy Fund. Effective January 2018, a total of $20,000 will be dispersed annually from the WLD Legacy Fund. A maximum of two (2) $2,500 projects will be funded each quarter. Also, applications will now be accepted on a continuous basis throughout the year with applications remaining in the queue until the end of each calendar year.

Not-for-profit groups and other formally organized groups are encouraged to apply. Funding is available for capital projects that benefit the community, but cannot be used to supplement operating revenue or for deferred maintenance projects.

The World’s Largest Dinosaur Legacy Fund invests a portion of funds generated by the WLD attraction and giftshop to enhance and enrich community economic development initiatives in the Drumheller region. To date the Legacy Fund has contributed over $615,000 to 36 community groups for a wide range of projects.

Lunch & Learn Session: How to Find & Apply for Bid Opportunities

Do you offer a product or service that the Town of Drumheller may want to purchase? Our next Lunch & Learn session will teach local business owners and employees how to find those opportunities, and how the bid process works. There will also be some brief information on how to find provincial and federal bid opportunities. Presented by Darryl Drohomerski, Town of Drumheller CAO.
