Drumheller (June 28 2021) – The Drumheller and District Chamber of Commerce will receive $29,420 of federal shop local funding—funding that will expand the Chamber’s ongoing efforts to encourage patronage of community businesses.
“We have some exciting programs to launch with these funds that we believe will boost our local economy” says Marley Henneigh, Office and Chamber Services Coordinator for the Chamber. “Without this funding from the federal government we would not be able to provide these programs for the community and at this scale, so we truly appreciate the support. Stay tuned for details as we begin to launch programs this summer!”
The funding will support multiple projects by the Chamber over the next 6 months, including a community-wide Shop Local activity, a Chamber Cash gift certificate program, video production, and financial support for businesses to join the new ChamberMarket e-commerce platform and further increase their online presence.
“Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, community chambers have truly been a lifeline for businesses,” says Ken Kobly,Alberta Chambers of Commerce President and CEO. “As we transition to reopening and recovery, we still have a long road ahead to rebuild our economy. This federal funding will help chambers do what we do best: support local job creators.”
A second round of funding applications is currently being processed.
