The Drumheller and District Chamber of Commerce (DDCC) regrets to inform the public that the upcoming Federal Election Forum scheduled for Thursday, April 24 at the Badlands Community Facility for candidates running in the Battle River –Crowfoot electoral district has been cancelled.
Despite invitations and outreach efforts to all five registered candidates, we received an insufficient number of confirmations to ensure a meaningful and representative discussion for voters in our community. A candidate forum relies on the participation of those seeking public office, and unfortunately, the lack of engagement has made it unfeasible to proceed.
“We understand the importance of providing voters with an opportunity to hear from candidates directly. It’s disappointing that, despite our efforts, we were unable to bring this forum to fruition. However we encourage residents to engage with candidates through other available means – such as campaign websites, social media, public appearances and direct outreach,” stated Heather Bitz, DDCC Executive Director.
The Drumheller & District Chamber of Commerce remains committed to fostering civic dialogue and will continue to look for ways in the future to support voter education and democratic engagement in our area.
A reminder election day is Monday, April 28. Polling stations are open 7:30a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Visit www.elections.ca for more information.
Thank you for your understanding.
